Tomorrow’s Global Leaders

Tariq Khan
Master of Arts in International Economics and Finance (MIEF)
Home Country: Republic of Trinidad and Tobago

Tariq, a rising student in the Master of Arts in International Economics and Finance (MIEF) program, chose to attend Johns Hopkins SAIS based on the school’s renown for molding the leaders of tomorrow, the famous Johns Hopkins brand and because it was an obvious decision for him to attend an institution that would inspire and propel him to be the best leader he could be in any organization; public, private, or nonprofit. His economics background and Johns Hopkins SAIS’ location in the ‘melting pot’ of the world’s largest economy have made Tariq eager to benefit from the school’s alumni and faculty who lead the world in economic research and policymaking.

Tariq chose to pursue the MIEF degree because of the school’s reputation for international economics. He knew that he could benefit from the practical knowledge and experiences of professors who have worked in places like the IMF and Federal Reserve. Tariq also appreciates the uniquely close-knit nature of the MIEF program which allows him to learn from his amazing classmates and form personal relationships with faculty who already feel like family.

In the future, Tariq hopes to use the skills he gains to benefit his home country, the Republic of Trinidad and Tobago and its people. He aims to discover solutions for developing nations in trade and competition to ensure that governments can effectively handle rapid globalization. Tariq is excited for the future and the positive impact he will make with an MIEF degree!
